Kathy Deraitus’ love for jewelry making is equaled only by her love for wearing her creations and by her personal knowledge of how finding just the right piece of jewelry feels to a woman. Don Haggerty is a figurative painter whose love for gesture, variations of expression, drapery, light, shadow and mood provides what he calls “the perfect context for inviting magic”. Chad Emerson’s photography is of imagery that compels the viewer and connects at an emotional level. Whether portraiture, artistic/abstract, or landscape, he brings a different perspective on the subject and conveys it visually to draw in the audience and evoke the viewer. Gretchen Leggitt @ Cafe Allegro This is a diverse collection of Gretchen Leggitt's wood burns, block prints and paintings. Her illustrative landscapes and figures are bound in a provocative state of tension and desire. Stephanie Morgan @ Chaco Canyon Cafe Our artist this month is Stephanie Morgan, the work is modern still lifes and pastorals. |  "Art from the Street" @ Moksha On November 21st, Moksha and Others Like Us team up to raise awareness of Seattle's homeless population through artwork, fashion, music, poetry and storytelling. The event includes a gallery opening of artwork from Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's "Art from the Street" clinic, the launch of a new clothing design from Others Like Us, an open mic for performers to share their experience with homelessness, and a social hour for artists, community organizers, homeless men and women and others to interact in a friendly environment. In order to support Seattle's Union Gospel Mission, Moksha is offering 10% off any purchase when someone donates warm clothing to their winter clothing drive. All proceeds and any donations from the night go directly to the SUGM so that they can continue their good work combating the plight of homelessness in Seattle. Moksha is a clothing boutique, art gallery and event space located in Seattle's University District at 4542 University Way NE. Locally owned since 2002, it has been committed to showcasing the work of local clothing designers, artist, musician and dancers. "Moksha is a space of creative freedom. With high ceilings, wood floors and ample room we can house the work of most any artist and we want all artists to feel at home here. " Others Like Us (OLU) is a clothing line started by Seattle's Union Gospel Mission. "Our story is about using clothing and accessories to break down barriers and tell stories that challenge our beliefs and humanize our homeless neighbors. Wearing OLU isn't a fashion statement.
